Frequently Asked Questions:
How far is Playa Negra from Liberia Internation Airport (LIR)? Playa Negra is 2 hours from LIR.
How hard is the drive from Liberia to Playa Negra? It is quite simple, there are about 5 turns you must make to get to Playa Negra.
How far is Playa Negra from San Jose Airport (SJO)? Playa Negra is 4.5 hour from SJO.
Do we need a car for the Playa Negra Area? We highly recommend renting a car for our area. To discover nearby beaches, towns, going out to eat at night, and getting to and from the airport. Roads are better than they have been but still dark, dusty and no shoulders for walking at night.
Are there Ubers or taxis in Playa Negra? We have no uber or taxis in Playa Negra, there are shuttle services but to book there needs to be scheduled in advance.
What documents do we need to visit Costa Rica? A valid passport that is has an experation date at least 6 months after your travel date.
What are the check in instructions? We use WhatsApp to send check in information and videos. We also will send an email with some check in information. We find WhatsApp is a good way for us to be in touch during your stay for any issues or questions that may arise. We make a group for your stay that has our team included. Its also a good way to stay in touch without incuring roaming charges by making wifi calls.
Is check in contact less? Yes our check in process is contactless. There will be a lockbox or a keyless entry for the house. If you have any issues we are close by.
Are there grocery stores in Playa Negra? We have 2 smaller markets in town. For larger grocery stores we recommend Automercado in Tamarindo, about a 20 minute drive, for a one stop shop. You can also find larger stores on your way from the Liberia Airport.
What type of coffee makers are in the houses? There are normal drip coffee makers in the houses, keurig has not become poplular in Costa Rica.
Are pools heated? No none of the pools we manage are heated. Usually they are warm enough to be comfortable.
Where is the closest ATM? The closest ATM is at the JW Marriott locaed in Hacienda Pinillia about 15 minutes away. You can also find them in Tamarindo at the Automercado or at banks.
Can we get fresh fish? There is a fish truck that comes between 10-12 on Fridays that has fish. If you want them to stop by let us know and we can alert them to stop at your house.
Is there local fishing? We do have 2 options for fishing out of Playa Negra, they leave from a spot close to Rancho Playa Negra. Usually for a maximum group of 5. We can help you book these local options. For larger charters you will need to look in Tamarindo and Flamingo. We don’t book these for you but can give you some suggestions.
